Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

Maathavinte Vanakkamasam – St.Thomas Family Unit, Liffey Valley, Lucan

Syro Malabar Catholic Community conducted vanakkamasam with  marian devotional prayers, a strong tradition, that we follow from our catholic faith. The prayer was conducted every day starting from 1st of May to 31st. The blessed statue of  Mary found place everyday with the members of our family unit. As our families are growing facing challenges of surrounding influences and cultures, it is inevitable that families give importance to follow our traditional customs & believes. There have been great participation all the members of our family unit and children were encouraged to lead the rosary prayers.

The prayer was started at Mr. Shaji Thomas’s house on 1st of May 2012 in the presence of Rev. Fr.Manoj Ponkattil who gave the message and blessings.  Many families from our unit participated in the pilgrimage to Mother Mary’s church at KNOCK.

The prayer concluded at Mr.Joy’s house on 31st May with great participation from all the members of the unit. We had a traditional Nerchakanji, payar & chammanthi to celebrate in a feel at home way. Fr.manoj Ponkattil met with members of our family unit during this occasion. Neverthless to say it has been a month of great blessings to all our family members through the intercession of Mother Mary.
