Syro Malabar Catholic Community in Dublin

The Syro Malabar Catholic Church in Dublin is under the guidance and direction of the Apostolic Visitation for the Syro Malabar Catholic Faithful in Europe headed by Mar Stephen Chirappanath and under the jurisdiction of Archdiocese of Dublin having its head as Archbishop Diarmuid Martin. The Community has more than thousand families (almost 5000 faithful) spread out into 9 Holy Qurbana Centres viz., Beaumont, Blackrock, Blanchardstown, Bray, Inchicore, Lucan, Phibsborough, Swords and Tallaght. For the sake of pastoral convenience, the Dublin zone is divided into three regions. Blanchardstown, Swords and Beaumont as one Grouping, Lucan, Phibsborough and Inchicore as another grouping. And yet another one with Tallaght, Blackrock and Bray.
Other Qurbana centres entrusted to the Dublin pastoral care are the following: Mid Leinster, Naas, Navan, Ballbriggen, Drogheda and Leixlip.

Regular Sunday Hoy Qurbana is offered in all the parishes. Sunday Catechism Lessons to more than 1500 children starting from class level 1 to class level 12 are very efficiently and effectively imparted by dedicated and selfless teachers numbering more than 100. Catechism teachers are trained class-wise from the different centres based on Catechism of the Catholic Church, Syro Malabar Catechism and Church Documents.



Fr. Joseph Oliakkattil is in charge of Tallaght, Blackrock, Bray & Athy mass centres. He is in charge of Family Apostolate, Liturgy, Pithrvedi and Mathrvedi.

Fr. Roy Vattakkatt is in charge of Blanchardstown, Swords, Beaumont and Navan mass centres. He is in charge of the catechetical department

Fr. Ceban Vellamathara is in charge of Lucan, Phibsborough, Inchicore, Naas and Mullingar mass centres . He is in charge of the Children and Youth Ministry.

Family Units are the basis for the familial faith formation in Dublin having Rosary Prayer, Reading of the Word of God and Interpreting the Word of God, Reading of Saints of the Season and Quiz based on the saints’ lives.Altar Servers Association has more than 300 Servers having their festal Day May 6 – the Feast of Dominic Savio. The solemn administration of the Holy Communion and the conferral of the Sacrament of Holy Confession are done after a one-year preparation.

Malabar Youth Movement is very active having different spiritual, social, inspirational, motivating and sportive endeavors. Caritas Renewal Retreat, Lumen Christi, Pilgrimage, Foot Ball Match etc. are some of them.

Mathruvedi in the parishes celebrate Marian Feasts and does charitable works and gives guidance and formation to youth.
Pithrvedi celebrates the Feast of St. Joseph and are the main front line volunteers in the parochial activities.
Marriage Preparation Course according the syllabus of the Syro Malabar Church is provided in view of preparing the adults for the Sacrament of Marriage.

Familia Family Fest is a social gathering of Dublin Families having sports, fun, music, dance and savouring of the delicious Kerala Meals

There are two main retreats one in the month of October a family renewal retreat and another retreat in the parishes during the Lenten season in preparation for the great feast of Easter. Mar Walah retreat for Children before the Feast of July 3 is conducted annually. Thirusannidhiyil First Friday Adoration gives opportunity to the faithful to approach the Sacrament of Confession and to be in the presence of Jesus.

Cherupushpa Mission League (CML)

Cherupushpa Mission League is one of the mission ventures of the Syro Malabar Church. It was started in 1968 to promote the mission work of Catholic Church. CML is currently being introduced across the Syro Malabar churches in Ireland.
