Rio-In-Dublin

What is Rio-In-Dublin?

Rio-In-Dublin – is a response to a request by young people who have been to previous World Youth Day’s, but are unable to attend this WYD in Rio de Janeiro in July. A working group made up of representatives of former WYD pilgrims, Diocesan Staff, Youth Leaders, Members of Faith based organisations and movements, with special support of the Capuchin Community of Church St – have been working for a few weeks on a proposal to host a mini-WYD – style event in Dublin. Details are listed below. We greatly invite support and people ability to network this to as many young people as possible. Key information is below:

What will happen during Rio-In-Dublin?

There are three options highlighted above. Essentially young people are invited to participate in different ways during Rio-In-Dublin. Some may want to get involved from Friday – Sunday. This option will provide an amazing experience of service, reflecting on our faith and trying to understand the challenge of the Gospel. Magis Ireland are co-ordinating this element. Download the info sheet below.

Another option is for young people (18+) to attend the Vigil in a WYD style, consisting of  a pilgrim walk, arrival in Church St, participation in a vigil consisting of prayer, music, workshops, time to reflect and Video Links to events in Rio.

On Sunday – younger people will be welcome to participate and get some of the flavor of WYD. There will be events led by the Brazilian Catholic community in Dublin, music, prayer, mass and much more.
